Christmas Tree Tips
KETK — According to the National Fire Protection Agency, more than 200 christmas tree fires are reported across the nation every year.
Today, Longview Fire Oficials showed us, how it takes less than a minute for a real christmas tree to go up in flames.
They recommend keeping your tree watered, away from candles and fire places and they say don't place too many lights on the tree.
Despite what you might see on your favorite christmas movie these fires can become dangerous very fast.
"Hollywood portrays it as your tree will burn up and everything is ok the truth is the furnishings, furniture you'll have a very significant fire spreading through your home very quickly."
As a reminder, if you live in Longview and live in a multi-family building like an apartment complex, you are not allowed to have a real tree.
