Citizen assists officer with arrest

LONGVIEW - On April 29, 2010 at around 5:30 p.m., Longview Police Officer Jerry Sullivan was working off-duty security at the Dillard’s department store at the Longview Mall at 3500 McCann Road when he was notified of a man trying to steal several articles of clothing.
The suspect exited the store without paying for the clothing and when confronted by Officer Sullivan in the parking lot, the suspect threw the clothing on the ground and ran. Officer Sullivan pursued the suspect on foot through the parking lot and southbound onto Horseshoe Lane, when a citizen pulled up in a vehicle and confronted the suspect.
The suspect attempted to strike the citizen and after a struggle, the citizen and Officer Sullivan were able to handcuff the suspect. The suspect, Keelean Obrian Walker was booked into the Gregg County Jail on charges of theft (Class B misdemeanor), criminal trespass (Class B misdemeanor), evading arrest (Class A misdemeanor) and resisting arrest (Class A misdemeanor).
No injuries were reported during the incident.
