The popular Longview park pavilions residents use for gatherings soon may no longer be free. The city is considering charging fees for use of the facilities.

Director of Community Services Laura Hill proposed to the City Council last week that pavilion fees be considered as the city begins creating a comprehensive plan.

“There are currently no fees assessed for any pavilions,” said Hill, whose department oversees parks. “We were going to address that throughout the Comprehensive Plan survey and get feedback from citizens about what they think is fair. Is it just that pavilion? Is it all pavilions? We really wanted citizen feedback on that.”

To charge to use a pavillion is ridiculous. First of all, we, as taxpayers, paid for these pavillions to be built..
Now you want us to pay to use them.
Sure glad I dont have kids to take to the park now. Grandchildren will have to have parties at home or other places.
