City of Longview pursuing National Guard building purchase

Longview’s old Texas National Guard armory near Teague Park is up for sale and the city would like to become the new owner.

That is, if the city can find about $500,000 to make the purchase.

The building at 307 American Legion Blvd. is currently used as a fire training facility.

The city leases the building for $100 a month.

Shawn Hara, city spokesman, said the state plans to sell the 55-year-old building along with the five acres it sits on. Teague Park shares part of that land, Hara said.
