A new zoning app for smartphones could mean fewer red tape and headaches for business owners in Tyler.

The city has been chosen to test out a new app called "Zoning Check."

Rather than going through the hassle of phone calls or Google searches to find a property's zoning laws, Zoning Check allows users look up a specific address in city database.

From there, a person can see what has been mentioned by the city about this property and what that land can legally be used for.

A proposed use can also be entered if you'd like to see where in the city that particular business is allowed.

12 Cities are currently testing out the new software and Tyler is the first outside California that has been chosen to take part!

The city and Zoning Check are asking for feedback as well.

The app is currently in the beta testing phase and is free for anyone to use on a smartphone browser.

You can also use it on a desktop but only with the Google Chrome web browser.
