Tyler — Due to winter weather conditions, the City of Tyler Transit Department will delay services until at least 7 a.m. tomorrow morning. At that time, a determination will be made to proceed with service. Riders should watch the City website, www.cityoftyler.org or social media sites to determine bus schedules.
Road crews have been working throughout the day to sand roadways and pick up debris from the storm. The department has logged 97 locations that either had trees down or limbs that had fallen into the street. More than 120 yards of “slag” has been spread on roads and overpasses to mitigate icy conditions. A fresh crew of employees will begin work at 7:30 p.m. this evening so that efforts can continue through the night.
The Airport remains closed at this time; however, a runway inspection is underway to possibly reopen.
The roads remain very slick and drivers are strongly encouraged to remain home if possible. Additional frozen precipitation is predicted overnight, so conditions may worsen.
