Forget jewelry or items the newly minted high school graduate can use in the fall for college.

Beaumont plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Beckert says every year he typically sees a high school senior girl receiving breast implants as her graduation gift.

Beckert says parents tell him they're just doing whatever they can to make their child happy.

Last year he had two girls who were friends undergo the 5,000 dollar procedure. they had attended the same high school, were going to the same college and had their surgeries on back-to-back days. He says he's seen them since and they're happy.

Dr. Beckert cautions the typical implant lasts about 10 to 15 years, so they'll have to go through the operation again several times during their lifetimes.

He says the best advice he can give to parents is to research the procedure extensively... and discuss your options with a doctor.
