Coast Guard Rescues Seven near Galveston
October 11, 2009 - 8:55pm
GALVESTON - The Coast Guard rescued an injured man after his ship sank in the Gulf of Mexico.
He was initially pulled from the water by another vessel, more than one-hundred miles Southeast of Galveston, Texas.
A Coast Guard Medevac then picked him him up by dropping a basket down to its deck.
Six others, who were also aboard the sinking vessel had been found earlier on a life raft.
Coast Guard officials credit the "Mystic Viking" crew with assisting in the rescue.
