Combatting the flu

October 8, 2009 - 5:06pm

TYLER— What do you do when you have the flu?

Experts say the best things a person can do is get lots of rest, drink clear fluids, and stay home from work.

Fever reducers like, Tylenol and Motrin, can help during the sickness, and Tamiflu in the most severe cases.

Liquid Tamiflu for children has been in short supply in some areas.

The FDA says Tamiflu pills come with instructions for pharmacists to turn them into the oral suspension, or liquid form for kids.

Doctors say antibiotics do not help cure a bad cold or flu. They are meant to treat bacterial infections only, the flu and colds are viral infections.
