Warren Bradley spent much of his life entertaining. His impersonations of national and international celebrities coupled with his longtime stint on one of East Texas’ most popular radio stations made him a regional celebrity who showed his audience how to use laughter to fight the heckler called stress.

This year, that audience, which included his dearest friends and family, found itself returning the favor. However, after several months, Bradley lost his public battle with cancer Sunday. He was 55.

“My precious friend Warren Bradley was welcomed home this morning,”said Diane Day, a Longview Realtor who spent many years with Bradley as on-air personalities on KYKX 105.7-FM radio.

“There will be more laughter today in heaven and many tears here. What a wonderful, strong, talented man of God. It was an honor to share a microphone with him all those years.”

Bradley was a morning show personality on KYKX intermittently between 1990 and 2003. He also performed stand-up comedy in Branson, Mo., Houston and dozens, if not hundreds, of locations across the U.S., Day said. He also opened for country music icon and Longview resident Neal McCoy.

Day shared more than a mic with Bradley. On July 16, after Bradley revealed that he had liver cancer, she helped organize a fundraiser at The Reserve in North Longview that benefited Bradley’s medical fund at Texas Bank and Trust. The event was headlined by country music singer Ricky Lynn Gregg — a Longview High School mate of Bradley’s — along with other musicians and personalized items from other well-known musicians.

Friends also gathered for a golf tournament fundraiser for Bradley earlier this year.

“The man is really funny,” Tony McCullough of the musical group Borderline said about Bradley.
