Community comes together in 'Not Your Average Joe' 5K

Supporters from all over the state of Texas came together to show support to a true hero on Saturday at the 'Not Your Average Joe' 5K.

More than 600 runners, 100 volunteers, and 75 firefighters came from all over East Texas and as far as the Texas Panhandle to participate.

The next opportunity to show your support will be on February 13, 2014. More than 40 Chili's restaurants across the state, Rhode Island, Florida, and Indiana, will be participating in 'Give Back Night.'

Lindale Firefighter Joe Yeakley remains in stable but critical condition in a Dallas hospital. He is being treated for burns he sustained when a roof collapsed on him in the early morning hours on Friday, January 17.

Yeakley is a 14-year veteran with Lindale Fire Department with a total of over 30 years in the fire service.

Multiple benefits have been set up to raise money to help his family with expenses while Yeakley is recovering.
