Compressed natural gas fueling station for Nacogdoches will be discussed

The feasibility of constructing a compressed natural gas fueling station in Nacogdoches as a joint city/county project will be discussed once again by city council members when they meet in regular session Tuesday night.

The city recently received two proposals for a professional assessment of the CNG project after an internal assessment was completed by a Stephen F. Austin State University intern. The intern “did a good job,” City Manager Jim Jeffers said, “but you don’t look at making a significant investment without properly vetting it.

“So we selected a firm out of Houston for the council to consider,” he said, adding the proposal has a cost of $53,000, “to complete the assessment to make sure it is doable and that it would be a good decision for the city.
