Congressman's brief bout of 'Bieber fever' cured
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut congressman's brief
affinity for teenage singing sensation Justin Bieber has flared out
after a few Twitter entries.
Three-term Democratic Rep. Christopher Murphy drew attention
Thursday when he jokingly admitted on Twitter to having "Bieber
fever" after reading the Canadian teen's criticism of the U.S.
health care system.
Shortly afterward, though, a chagrined Murphy was back on
Twitter after learning Bieber opposes abortion.
"Bieber fever cured," Murphy wrote, along with "Time to be
quiet again, Justin."
Murphy said Friday in a statement that the tweets were just in
good fun. He says they were part of his use of social networking to
show he's a regular guy who follows sports, music and pop culture.
There was no word Friday on whether Bieber even knew of Murphy's
