A man who was convicted of murder was arrested during a drug bust in Tyler on Thursday.

Tyler police found several drugs and firearms at the house on the 2800 block of Cushing Drive just after 5:00pm.

They recovred crack cocaine, marijuana, and seven firearms during the bust.

The man arrested at the house was Richard Hartsfield, 45, who had previously been arrested and convicted of murder more than 20 years ago.

Hartfsfield was arrested for the murder in 1988, and was convicted of the crime in January 1991.

He was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Hartsfield was behind bars in Huntsville until July of 2008, when he was released on parole and returned to Tyler.

In addition to drug and theft charges, Hartsfield also faces charges for possession of a prohibited weapon by a felon.

well he destroyd a family with that murder back in '88 & he dont deserved a second chance. period. yes claudie lets send him back to the hole for another 40 years plus 7 years per gun PLUS being a felon in possession of a fire arm. God handles his.

He broke parole! Send him back to serve out the 40 years. This is what makes me angry, they kill someone and are convicted, but they do not serve the term given them. I understand that for some minor crimes, but murder is a different story.

you dont know the story behind the murder..ppl kill for several reason: protecting their family, themselves or just for the hell of it.. I suggest ppl do further research before judging!!!!!! Isnt that one of the ten commandments anyway?? You brake one, you brake all...So with that being said please research before you place your crude comments on the world wide web.
