Discovery of woman's body made Sunday afternoon

The Houston Chronicle is reporting; police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman whose body was found face down Sunday in a pool in southwest Houston.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was discovered around 1 p.m. Sunday by her mother and her friend in a backyard in-ground pool at 2022 Banks near South Shepherd, HPD Sgt. Warren L. Meeler said.

Authorities believe there may have been a party at the house Saturday night where alcohol was consumed. The homeowner is out of the country, so police are unsure whether guests were allowed on the premises.
