U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined colleagues in the Senate and House of Representatives today in introducing the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.

The Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act would boost support for and protection of victims of human trafficking by increasing law enforcement resources, enhancing victims’ services and increasing penalties in an effort to combat child sex trafficking, child pornography, sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

“Twenty-five percent of the victims of domestic human trafficking crimes are located in Texas. Everyone here today recognizes the atrocity of human trafficking, and we’ve united across party lines and in bicameral fashion, as you can tell, to take a firm stand against it.”

Senator Cornyn serves on the Finance and Judiciary Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee’s Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. He served previously as Texas Attorney General, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and Bexar County District Judge.

Great Idea! Too bad he didn't introduce a budget bill and get it passed by his own party in the house. Unfortunately we don't have a budget, therefore there is no money to fund this wonderful piece of legislation, conveniently introduced prior to the election. But it is a really well thought out way to pander for votes.

How about introducing a bill that 1. Requires all members fo Congress to pay into Social Security to replace the lifetime retirement they recieve after serving one term. 2. Requires all members of Congress to purchase the same healthcare the rest of America has to purchase. 3. Requires all members of Congress to participate in a salary reduction of 60% to bring them in line with the average American. 4. Imposes a term limit on all members of Congress to two terms, with no retirement package.
