County approves budget amendments for culvert replacement, road repairs
Commissioners approved budget amendments for reimbursement for road repairs in Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 during their meeting held June 25.
The two precincts received reimbursement for road repairs, headwall and culvert replacement from the Community Block Grant 710197 2010 Disaster Relief Project. Precinct 1 received a total of $18,486.28 and Precinct 2 received $95,228.25.
Commissioners also agreed to extend a contract with Material Resources Inc. for an additional 12 months to provide pug mill oil for Precinct 1. Commissioner Brett Fitts said he has used the company for the past two years.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Darrell Godwin’s request to finance the purchase of a John Deere tractor was approved. The total purchase price is $38,500; with a $15 recording fee and finance charges. Total cost is $38,750. The tractor is to be paid in two installments with the first payment of $19,429.98 to be paid now. The remainder, $19,721.06, will be paid in November to budget for FY 2013 with a new contract for FY 2013.
Auditor Tammy Wells asked that no action be taken on the courthouse elevator service agreement. The county courthouse restoration project has not reached completion to date.
The courthouse is under contract with RBR Construction. Wells asked the court to table the item until the courthouse is under the control of the county. No action was taken.
Two bids for cracked road oil from Bryan & Bryan Oil Co. and Blazer Oil Co. were opened and reviewed. Wells asked commissioners for more time to review the proposals before making a decision.
Wells said one bid was submitted cost per barrel and the other was by the ton. She said she needed more time to figure out what the cost per barrel would be from both companies.
The treasurer’s monthly reports for May 2012 were approved as presented.
