Craftsmanship on display at 40th annual Gladewater arts festival
Gladewater — The first cool breezes of fall swirled through booths at the 40th annual Gladewater Arts & Crafts Festival this weekend, setting off a chorus of wind chimes and tickling leaves on holiday wreaths.
Sponsored by the Gladewater Chamber of Commerce, the event on the grounds of Broadway Elementary School featured items handmade by area craftsmen, including needlework, ceramics, woodworking, food and stained glass.
Since 1973 the festival has offered attendees a mix of seasonal goods, from flower arrangements of fall leaves for a front door to a painted, wooden cutout of Santa Claus fit for a front lawn display.
