An East Texan is recovering from a gunshot wound after shots were fired outside of a Marshall bar Sunday.

Sunday morning around 1:58 a.m., Marshall Police Department Communications received several calls reporting a shooting had taken place outside Charlie’s Bar, located at 303 North Columbus, inside the Marshall city limits. While officers where en route, MPD Communications also requested that Marshall Firefighters/EMT respond due to an injury. Upon officers’ arrival, an off duty deputy with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Hasler, 32, was taken to the Marshall Police Department for further questioning.

Trey Austin Rogers was taken to a Marshall hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and is in critical condition.

Deputy Hasler began his career in March 2002 as a jailer and resigned from that position in May 2004. He was re-hired in October 2004 and resigned in June 2007 as a deputy sheriff. He was re-hired as a deputy sheriff in July 2007, according to Harrison County Sheriff William McCool.

The investigation is ongoing by the Marshall Police Department in conjunction with the Texas Rangers and the Special Investigators of the Harrison County District
Attorney’s Office.

This shooting did not happen at Charlies and had nothing to do with Charlies other than it was nearby. give the guy a break. Your story makes it sound like the bar had something to do with the shooting. If I owned Charlies I would be very angry...
