2 arrested after 3-year-old found suffering from internal bleeding, external injuries

Two East Texans have been arrested after at three-year-old girl was serioulsy beaten in a Lufkin home.

Ashley Wingo, 25, and Elisiah Phipps, 35, have been charged with injury to a child and criminal negligence.

According to Lt. David Young with the Lufkin Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Picardy Lane, Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m., on reports of child abuse. The toddler has been taken to Texas Children's Hospital with internal bleeding and external injuries. The child's hands were severley swollen along with her feet.

Phipps, whose relationship to the toddler is unknown at this time, is suspected as the one who beat the child.

Both suspects were booked into the Angelina County Jail and no bond has been set
