2 ETX men arrested for aggravated robbery, evading arrest
Marshall, Texas (KETK) — The Marshall Police Department has arrested two men for aggravated robbery and evading/resisting arrest.
Eric Charles Cooks, 39, and Douglas Raymond Johnson, 39, both of Marshall. Cooks was charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest/detention with previous conviction and resisting arrest/search/transport. Johnson was charged with aggravated robbery as well as evading arrest/detention.
On Thursday, around 1:51 a.m., the Marshall Police Department Communication received a call reporting an armed robbery of the EZ Mart located at 2500 block of West Pinecrest Drive inside Marshall.
Officers responded to the area and attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the vicinity. The driver failed to stop and a chase ensued.
The pursuit continued eastbound onto Holland Street for several blocks before coming to an end at the 1900 block. One exited the vehicle and began fleeing on foot from officers. After a short chase, he was apprehended and taken into custody. The passenger's clothing matched the description of the suspects in the robbery given by the clerk from EZ Mart.
Both men were arraigned, Thursday, by Justice of the Peace Megan Pinson. Cook was set at $50,000 for the robbery, $7,500 for evading arrest/detention and $3,000 for resist arrest/search/transport. Johnson's bond was set at $50,000 for robbery $10,000 for the Evading Arrest/Detention charge.
