Two prisoners, including one awaiting trial on a capital murder charge, escaped from an East Texas jail.

The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday morning, Brian Allen Tucker, 44, of Sulphur Springs and John Marlin King, 39, of Cumby escaped from the Hopkins County Jail.

Tucker was being held on $1-million bond in the 2011 death of Bobby Riley of Mahoney. Riley was strangled in his home and some musical instruments and guns were stolen. King was being held on an evading arrest charge.

According to Dispatcher Beth Renfro, both men ran through a recreation yard used by females inmates at the jail.

The police do not know what the inmates are wearing now, but they are believed to be hiding in a wooded area east of the jail.

Currently, nine schools in the Hopkins County area are on lockdown.
