Additional $5,000 offered by North Texas Crime Stoppers

The reward for Larry Valdez, 43, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and this month’s featured fugitive, has increased to up to $20,000 for information leading to his capture if the tip comes in during the month of September. An additional reward of up to $5,000 has been offered by North Texas Crime Stoppers for Valdez’s arrest. Valdez has a violent criminal past and is wanted for parole violation, aggravated assault with deadly weapon and assault causing bodily injury-family violence.

Valdez, who has been on the run since 2005, is wanted for a Dallas County incident in which he brutally assaulted a woman and left her for dead. The victim survived the assault but is permanently disfigured.

Valdez has relatives living in the Dallas area, and he has previously been employed as an iron worker. Harboring a fugitive can lead to state and/or federal charges, with sentences varying from two to 10 years in prison. Anyone found to have been helping Valdez avoid arrest will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Anyone with information is urged to call Texas Crime Stoppers, and all tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Valdez is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds. His tattoos include heart/ribbon/arrow on the left side of his chest. For more information, please view his wanted bulletin at: http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/fugitiveDetails.aspx?id=201.

One offender from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Program is featured each month in hopes the higher reward money from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division will generate additional tips. The higher reward amount will only be paid if the tip comes in the same month the fugitive is featured. All calls, texts, emails and Facebook tip messages are anonymous.

Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in four different ways:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

  • Text the letters DPS – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.

  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.

  • Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).

The following link, http://bit.ly/VqydsJ, explains the steps on how to submit a tip regarding a Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive or sex offender and/or how to receive a reward once the fugitive is captured.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders (http://www.dps.texas.gov/texas10mostwanted/).

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
