3 East Texans land in jail after traffic stop reveals stolen checks, drugs

Kilgore, Texas (KETK) — Three Kilgore residents are behind bars after a routine traffic stop revealed stolen and forged checks.
Eric L. Johnson, 24, Patty Jean Cox, 37, and Jenna Lee Taylor, 27, all of Kilgore were arrested after Kilgore officer Carolyn Wink discovered the three were in possession of stolen and forged checks. The checks were determined to have come from seven different banks and three different victims.
One of the stolen checks was taken from a home mailbox in Smith County.
Johnson was charged with forgery, stealing/receiving stolen checks, failure to ID and a Rusk County Warrant for felony theft. Cox was charged with forgery, stealing/receiving stolen checks, as well as Taylor, who was also hit with drug charges.
All three were arrested and booked into the Kilgore Municipal Jail.
