Alleged ETX robbers use stun gun on homeowner, caught by police
Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — Two East Texas men were taken into custody Thursday for attacking a man during a robbery, police said.
According to Lufkin Police Department Public Information Officer David Casper, shorlty before 9:30 a.m., Octavious Mosby, 22, and Deroy E. Penson, 23, both of Lufkin, robbed a homeowner in a workshop next door to his home in the 1000 block of Shermell Drive. The armed suspects approached the victim and demanded money.
After receiving some cash, Mosby and Penson used a stun gun on the victim, who then told the duo about more money in his truck, said Sgt. Casper. One robber stayed with the victim while the other retrieved the cash. The pair then ran from the area on foot into a wooded area.
The wife, who witnessed some of the incident next door, called for help and officers responded. When they arrived, a perimeter was established. Mosby was quickly caught in a local store's parking lot near Loop 287 and Atkinson Street. Penson was arrested a short time later in the wooded area.
Authorities were able to recover a stun gun, a gun on each suspect and money.
Mosby was charged with aggravated robbery and booked into the Angelina County jail on $100,000 bond. Penson, who faced a slew of other charges, bail totaled more than $105,000.
