Angry customer punches store manager, steals merchandise

A 72-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly attacking a store manager and stealing merchandise from the business.

At 3:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at the CPU Store in the 200 block of Rice Road. When they arrived, authorities learned Bernard Mitchell had attacked an employee after he complained of poor service. Mitchell allegedly punched the manager several times in the head.

Following the fight, Mitchell took two computer motherboard and left the scene. 

During the scuffle, Mitchell fell and cut his head. He was taken to a local hospital and treated. He was arrested and will be booked into the Smith County Jail.

Mitchell was charged with Robbery due to the fact he committed an assault during the commission of a theft.
