Angelina County, Texas (KETK) — The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible machete attack Wednesday.
At around 10 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a home located on the 180 block of Virginia Road off Highway 59 North. When authorities arrived, they learned a man had been allegedly assaulted with a machete. The victim, Johnny Hunt, was found with cuts to his head and ear.
Hunt told deputies he had been involved in an argument with his brother earlier in the day, but would not specify who attacked him. Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches said they have a person of interest, but they are not releasing a name at this time.
The sheriff's office first learned of the attack when Hunt went next door for help. The neighbor called for an ambulance, then alerted authorities to the incident.
Hunt was taken to local hospital and is expected to recover.
No arrest have been made at this time, said Sanches. The investigation is ongoing.
