BREAKING: Second suspect surrenders to police in Tyler park murder

A second suspect has turned himself in to the Tyler Police Department in connection with the murder of a mother at P.T. Cole Park on July 30th.

Dennis Montrell Bendy, 19, surrendered to police around 4:00 p.m.and was taken to the Smith County Jail.

Another suspect, Rakheem Goldstein, 20, of Tyler, also surrendered to authorities on Monday.

Police believe Goldstein and Bendy were involved in the shooting death of Briana Raquel Young, 20, of Tyler.

Around 10:00 p.m., on July 30th, Tyler Investigators determined Young had brought her 3-year-old son to the park. While there, Young was caught in the cross-fire of gunshots.Young’s child was not harmed.

Investigators were told that gunfire came from within the park and also from a vehicle on Mockingbird Street nearby.

Approximately 30 people were in the park when the shooting occurred.

Investigators determined that Bendy was a second shooter along with Goldstein who had shot from the street into the park.

Judge Jack Skeen set both men's bond at $1,000,000.

The case remains under investigation.


 Goldstein surrendered to police on Monday, August 12th.
