Lufkin, Texas — Crime Stoppers of Lufkin needs your help solving two connected crimes involving two major thefts.
Wednesday, April 16, an employee of Screen Geeks in Lufkin saw his silver 2004 Dodge Ram truck driving out of the parking lot. The identity of the vehicle thieves is not known but a camera inside the business captured video of a small, light-colored, crossover-type utility vehicle stopping in front of the parked truck and then following it out of the parking lot.
The following day, the stolen truck was use in a smash-and-grab theft at Beard Fine Jewelers in Lufkin. Video from the jewelry store shows the stolen truck parking in front of the store and four hooded and masked suspects rushed into the building. Employees of the business were not on the showroom floor when the suspect’s entered and the suspects used hammers to break through the glass of several display cases, loaded jewelry into bags, and ran back to the truck.
The suspects were inside the building for less than two minutes before returning to the truck and fleeing southbound on South First Street. Minutes later, Lufkin Police Department officers located the stolen truck abandoned at Hidden Oaks apartment complex on Daniel McCall Drive but the suspects were not found.
