The Lufkin Crime Stoppers is seeking the help of the public in identifying an alleged thief.

On Friday, March 4, a woman entered a grocery store on North Timberland Drive in Lufkin and turned in a wallet she found in the store’s parking lot. The receiving employee, thinking she was dealing with an honest person, did not collect the woman’s contact information but put the wallet aside for its owner.

An hour later, the wallet owner returned to the store looking for the wallet she left in a shopping cart in the parking lot. She found that most of the wallet’s contents were intact but her cash was missing.

A review of videos captured by cameras inside the store showed that the “Good Samaritan” had rewarded herself for returning the lost wallet. The quality of the video is low but it clearly shows the suspect removing cash from the wallet.

The suspect, as seen here in images taken from the store’s videos, is a medium build, white female with shoulder-length, brown hair. She wore a camouflage-pattern coat, a dark shirt, blue jeans and pink or red tennis shoes.

Under the Crime of the Week section of, you can view portions of the videos showing the suspect as she steals the cash and turns in the wallet.

If you can identify this suspect, call Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip at All calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest related to this crime
