According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a decomposed body has been found within the county lines.

At around 10:45 a.m., the body was found by a TxDOT contracted mowing crew in southern Cherokee County off Highway 69 near County Road 2620, close to the town of Wells. The body, which was found in a median, is believed to be a female. The approximate age and race is unknown at this time. The median was last mowed in June.

Law enforcement says an Angelina County investigator is en route to the scene. Authorities are currently looking for Sheila Ann Morton, 33, who was last seen June 2 in Huntington. Officials will conduct DNA testing to see if the body is Morton.
