Nacogdoches, Texas (KETK) — Two men were arrested Sunday on multiple charges after they were caught carrying more than $250,000 from Milwaukee, Wisconson, to Houston.
According to the Department of Public Safety, at 6:04 p.m., a trooper stopped a car speeding on U.S. 259, north of Nacogdoches. The driver, Henry Korvertt Bams, 40, of Milwaukee, and passenger, Frederick Mitchell, 42, of Chicago, gave conflicting stories. The smell of marijuana was also noticed inside the vehicle.
Troopers searched the vehicle and found a large amount of money inside luggage in the truck. A small amount of marijuana was also found. Both suspects were arrested for money laundering greater than 200,000 and possession of marijuana. They were booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.
Authorities determined the pair was moving $253,341. The original amount pictured above shows $252,611-- that number is incorrect..
DPS Criminal investigation agents assisted after the contraband was located and will continue the investigation. Both Bams and Mitchell were reportedly traveling from Milwaukee to Houston.
