E. Texans accused of stealing cosmetics, cleaning items

Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — Two alleged East Texas shoplifters were arrested for trying to steal cosmetics and cleaning items in Lufkin Sunday evening.
At 6:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a store in the 2500 block of Daniel McCall Drive on reports of stolen items. When officer arrived, they spoke to a prevention officer, who told authorities he saw two women take several items without paying.
The prevention officer said the suspects went to the self checkout and scanned only a number of items while placing all the merchandise in their shopping bags. They pair then tried to leave the store, but were stopped and taken to an office until law enforcement arrived.
The total value of the items not paid for was $81.31. The suspects, Chelsea B. Dillard, 21, of Nacogdoches, and Maegan A. Skeeters, 22, of Lufkin, were arrested and taken to the Angelina County Jail. They were both charged with one count of theft.
