E. Texas woman attacks boyfriend with cord, knives during breakup
Lufkin, TExas (KETK) — An East Texas woman is accused of attacking her live-in boyfriend with multiple weapons after he ended the relationship on Sunday.
According to the Lufkin Police Department, Antoinette M. Smith, 31, was arrested on assaulting a family member with prior conviction. Police said she assaulted her boyfriend of five years.
At 10:10 p.m., neighbors reported a disturbance in the area. When officers arrived in the 700 block of Schuller Street, the suspect told authorities the couple was rough housing when they somehow were cut. The woman had a cut on her palm and the man had a cut on his finger.
The victim told police an argument began when he told Smith the relationship was over. The man then went to lie down to avoid more confrontation, but was startled when he felt something strike his back. At this time, he rolled over to see the suspect standing there with an extension cord.
Smith then retrieved a knife, but the victim was able to wrestle it away and break the blade off. The woman grabbed a second knife and the victim ran down stairs to a neighbor's home for help.
Witnesses told authorities they only heard the incident until the victim appeared asking to call police.
Smith was treated at the scene by medical officials. She was arrested and taken to the Angelina County Jail without incident. .
