Trinity, Texas (KETK) — Police said a Trinity man was arrested last week after he "severely assaulted" a 76-year-old man earlier this month.
On August 9 at 7:40 p.m., Javier Solis, 49, of Trinity, was helping an elderly and disabled man move into a camper in the 1100 block of Trinlady Park Road. After finishing up moving, the suspect and victim began drinking alcohol.
During this time, Solis asked the victim if he could also move into the Camper, but was told no. The suspect then jumped on top of the man and began to severely beat him, according to Trinity Police Chief Steven Jones. Trinity officers later learned about the alleged attack after the emergency room notified authorities.
The victim was hospitalized from the attack, but he is expected to recover.
A warrant was later issued for the arrest of Solis and he was taken into custody on August 21 at the intersection of Trinlady and Kevin Street. The suspect was charged with felony injury to a child/elderly/disabled person with intent of serious bodily injury.
