Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — A Lufkin man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday for a 2013 kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to Angelina County prosecutor Layne Thompson, Jimmy Leland Hamilton, Jr., 41, admitted to tying up a friend while he was high on crack and attempting to rape her. During the incident, the suspect realized what was happening, stopped and left the scene.
He was arrested on September 16, 2013, and booked into the Angelina County Jail. His bail was set at $100,000.
Due to the Hamitlon's clean prior arrest record, he was sentenced to only 20 years, Thompson said.
