ETX man headbutts wife while high on PCP, police say
Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — Police arrested a Lufkin man early Thursday morning after he allegedly headbutted his wife while on drugs.
According to Sergeant David Casper, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Maplewood shortly after midnight on reports of a disturbance. When police arrived and spoke to the victim, she stated her husband was coming off PCP and arguing with her.
During the dispute, Winston L. Bryant, 37, allegedly headbutted her in the face and busted his wife's lip. Officers noticed the victim had a bloody upper lip. The victim told police she then slapped the victim an attempt to get away. A witness reported to LPD he did not watch the assault, but did see the suspect causing problems.
Officers found Bryant hiding in trees behind the home. He admitted to the headbutt, but claimed only after she slapped him, knocking his “grill” loose. He also told officers he was hiding to avoid jail.
Police could smell a chemical odor coming from the suspect, which is consistent with someone using PCP. No signs of injury were visible on Bryant.
Authorities determined Bryant was the primary aggressor and arrested him for assault family violence. He was booked into the Angelina County Jail.
