Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — An East Texas man will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to the 2013 murder of his ex-girlfriend and her daughter.
According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office, Kevin Jabbar McKelvey, 39, of Lufkin, admitted to shooting and killing Teresa Hoyle and her daughter, Ca’Shaunika Hoyle, Monday, August 5, 2013.
Following the shooting, a day-long manhunt ensued resulting in McKelvey turning himself in to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of Charlton in Lufkin after McKelvey's ex-girlfriend Teresa Hoyle, 39, and Ca'Shaunika Hoyle, 22, arrived at the house in a car driven by another man.
McKelvey drove away from the crime scene, but surrendered after the exhausting man-hunt.
As part of a plea-bargain, in exchange for a guilty plea, the death penalty was taken off the table.
