The Henderson County Sherriff's Office is seeking the husband of a Mabank woman who was arrested on on Saturday.

Brandi Smith was arrested on charges of of evading arrest, detention in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

Police are still trying to locate her husband, Casey Daniel Smith, 31, also of Mabank. Smith is desribed as 6 feet 2 inches tall weighing in at 240 pounds.  Smith has brown hair, hazel eyes and mutiple tattoos all over his body.

On Saturday July 27th, 2013 at about 1: 15 a.m., Eustace police attempted to make a traffic stop on a white pickup truck with a flatbed attached that was operated by a white male, Smith.

In the passenger seat was the suspects’ wife. The flatbed pickup had been recently stolen from an Air Conditioning Company in Mabank, and Smith had active felony warrants for his arrest. He has lengthy criminal history and is well known by law enforcement in Henderson County.

While being pursued by Eustace officials, Smith stopped the truck, put it in reverse and backed at a high rate of speed into the Eustace police vehicle in an apparent attempt to disable the police vehicle and injure the officer.

The officer was not hurt and able to continue the pursuit. At one point in the pursuit, Smith threw a backpack containing Syringes and Methamphetamines out of the passenger side window, which was later recovered by officers. Smith stopped and let his wife out of the vehicle, then turned around and attempted to crash head on into the police vehicle.

The officer drove into the ditch missing the truck by inches. Smith continued to flee into a field where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s office responded and assisted in the search for Smith in the wooded area where the vehicle had come to rest.

Chief Holder arrested Brandi Smith and booked her into the Henderson County Jail for Evading Arrest and Detention in a Motor Vehicle and for possession of A Controlled Substance. Her bonds were set by Judge Daniels at $22,500.

Shortly after the pursuit, Chief Holder was dispatched to 12871 County Road 2912, regarding a robbery that had just occurred. An officer responded and arrived on scene and met with the complainant, an 82-year-old female.

The victim stated that she arrived home  and that a white male that she described as over six feet tall, dark hair, and with strange tattoos on his hands that looked like bolts or screws around the edges, as well as large dark tattoos at his neck, came walking out of her back yard.

Chief Holder immediately recognized this description as matching the suspect involved in a pursuit and aggravated assault on a Peace Officer earlier that day. Officers believed this individual to be Smith. The victim stated that she walked in her house and saw that it was ransacked and that someone had defecated in the toilet.

The victim stated the suspect told her that his wife was in trouble and had been arrested and that he was trying to get some help. The victim further stated that the suspect followed her into her garage, struck her in the head with his fist and pushed her to the ground taking her cell phone and car keys to her Burgundy 2001 Cadillac El Dorado, which bore Texas plates CP2B547.

Deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office was on scene and he and Chief Holder walked the crime scene together. Officers discovered a window which had the screen removed, and found a machete beside it on the ground. Chief Holder also located the back cover of the cellphone that the suspect had taken on the front driveway of the residence. Officers then cleared the scene with a Robbery report.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Smith, please contact the Eustace Police Department.
