An East Texas man is behind bars after he was arrested for being in the possession of thousands of dollars worth of scrap metal.

Robert Grant Rowe, 49, of Livingston, was arrested Sunday, February 2, 2014, after an alert citizen noticed his suspicious activity on a friend's property and called in the report.

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to reported theft in progress off of Buddy Brown Road. The person who called in the crime stopped to investigate and found three people loading several thousand dollars worth of scrap metal onto a flatbed trailer off of Buddy Brown Road. He contacted the landowner and was told no one was allowed on the property except loggers who were contracted to cut timber.

The citizen contacted the sheriff's office and held the three at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

Rowe was booked into the Polk County Jail.

Good job!

I suspect the other two were 'invited' by this one who is jail to help load his truck and they didn't know he was not the owner.
