Two East Texans were arrested Monday for allegedly stealing a tractor and and hay forks from a local resident.

Deputies were dispatched to the Pennington area, south of Crockett, on reports of suspicious activity, according to the Houston County Sheriff's Office. The caller told authorities someone was driving his neighbor's tractor down a road and the driver was not familiar to him.

Once law enforcement responded, they began an investigation, which led to the arrested of two suspects in the theft. The tractor and hay forks were returned to the owner.

Broderick Creag, 36, of Crockett, and Marcus Peterson, 27, of Crockett, were both taken into custody on a theft charge. They were booked into the Houston County Jail. No bond has been set at this time.

Sheriff Bobbitt stated how important it is for citizens to report any suspicious activity.
