Trinity, Texas (KETK) — A Trinity, Texas, woman was arrested early Wednesday after an exhaustive search for her son.
At 4:47 a.m., Barbara Fletcher was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation. Her 9-year-old child was reported missing the previous night.
According to the Trinity Police Department, at around 5 p.m., her son was last seen in the 500 block of Main Street headed to a home on Kelly Street, but he never arrived. Authorities were not alerted until 10:30 p.m. when the boy had already been missing for quite some time.
When police responded to the call for help at the home on Main Street, Chief Steven Jones found drug paraphernalia related to marijuana and methamphetamine use.
At this time, Chief Jones called for assistance from Sheriff Woody Wallace. While police searched for the boy elsewhere, deputies searched the entire building and found more drug paraphernelia and meth. After completeing a search of the property, deputies joined in the search for the 9-year-old.
Authorities eventually found the child safe at home in the Mill Town area four hours later.
Felony possession of controlled substance charges for methamphetamines are pending for several people involved. Since the priority was to locate the child, all possible drug related criminal charges will be turned over to the district attorney for prosecution at a later time, said Trinity Police officials.
Child Protective Services has been notified and is investigating the case.
