A Hooks police officer who allegedly stabbed his wife with syringes filled with an animal euthanization drug has until Thrusday, August 16 to plead guilty to the crime or take his chances at trial.

Sgt. David Horn was arrested shortly before midnight on Sunday, October 15, 2012 after he allegedly stabbed his wife with the lethal drug at their home on Moss Lane in Bowie County.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found Misty Gail Horn, unconscious, lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

Horn was flown to a nearby hospital where she was quickly moved to the Intensive Care Unit. As a result of the poisoning, Horn was in a coma.

Horn was arrested for aggravated assault, deadly conduct, and cited to court for the charge of assault by contact.

State District Judge Bobby Lockhart, tells KETK, the reasoning for the deadline on the choice is becuase they need to be able to reserve a courtroom in Rockwall.

If Horn pleads guilty, he will do so before the court on August 22nd.
