A Whitehouse woman has been found guilty of criminally negligent homicide stemming from a 2013 vehicle accident which killed two women and injured one child.

According to the Rusk County District Attorney's Office, Ashley Marcella Kubiak was sentenced to 180 days in jail probated for five years. This means if she violates her five-year probation in any way, she will serve the full 180 days.

The fatal wreck happened on Tuesday, April 30, 2013,around 4:30 p.m., on Highway 34 near County Road 214 in Rusk County.  Officials say Sandra Jones, 63, and Shari Standard, 22, both of Henderson, were killed after Kubiak hit the back of their SUV with her truck. The force was so great, the impact sent the SUV into oncoming traffic where they were then hit by another truck. A six-year-old boy was also in the SUV at the time of the crash. He was injured and taken to a Dallas hospital.

IMO...Probation in exchange for the lives of two people...only in East Texas do we send someone who stole something to prison but "spare" the person that killed another human being....and I know accidents happen, but 5 yrs is not long enough for a life.
