Former Tyler pharmacist accused of sexually assaulting child released on bond

Tyler, Texas (KETK) — The retired Tyler pharmacist accused of sexually assaulting a child bonded out of jail late Thursday night.
According to Smith County judicial records, James Carey Prosperie, 73, posted a $100,000 surety bond and was released from jail at 11:34 p.m. after his arrest following a standoff on Tuesday, September 3.
According to the arrest affidavit provided by Smith County, a detective working the case states she has good reason to believe a Prosperie sexually assaulted a 14-year-old relative on June 8, 2013.
According to a report from the CPS, concerning the underage relative, Prosperie confessed to a lawyer/friend he had sexual contact with the underage relative on at least two separate occasions.
No court date has been set at this time.
