An East Texas man will spend the next 50 years behind bars after being found guilty of robbing a convenience store.

Calvin Rushing, 45, of Lufkin, received a 50-year sentence Monday for robbing a gas station in May 2012. Rushing ambushed the store wearing a towel on his head and armed with a spear.

Rushing was found guilty earlier in March prior to Monday's sentencing.

Agree 100%.
85% of criminals are drug addicts.
Put him into a community residential program, mandated treatment & make him work off the cost of his crime, living expenses & treatment.
Incarceration & death penalty do not solve the Texas crime problem.
This guy will likely die in prison.
Along the way he will cost taxpayers more for medical care than his crime.
Some states are letting elderly inmates out because of high medical costs.
Judges need to use common sense.

50 years for wielding a spear - a justice system (GUFFAW!) gone awry. Put this idiot to work (Under supervision) somewhere so that the general public don't have to pay his board and lodge for the next 50 years. I think the judge who did this should get some community service too - what a lug head.
