Authorities are looking into how synthetic marijuana was smuggled in the Gregg County Jail following the hospitalization of five inmates.

Four inmates were treated and released from a local hospital, while one had to stay overnight on Friday, according to Gregg County Sheriff's Office Lt. Kirk Haddix.

Authorities believe the drugs were smuggled in by an inmate, not given out by an employee. One single marijuana cigarette was missed by Longview Police and a Gregg County jailer, reported the Longview News-Journal.

The Gregg County Sheriff's Office has not yet released the name of the suspect who is believed to have brought in the K2, due to an ongoing investigation.
