A Kilgore teen was taken into custody on a multitude of charges after he was caught running from police.

On Tuesday, an officer was dispatched to Town Oaks Drive on reports of a person who had bolted from a garage after a homeowner discovered him. When police arrived in the area of Stone Creek Apartments, authorities spotted a man running away at the sight of law enforcement.

According to the Kilgore Police Department, the suspect ran into an area with high grass and a K-9 unit was called in to assist with a search. The K-9, Jinto, developed a strong scent path and began tracking the alleged burglar into a wooded area near Stone Road off the ramp of the loop. Authorities continued across Stone Road toward ETCOG and into the courtyard of Stone Ridge Apartments. K-9 Jinto quickly hunted down the suspect, who ran, and gave up after several commands to stop.

Caleb Gipson, 19, was arrested and charged with evading arrest, two counts of criminal trespass habitation, warrant for assault, and possession of marijuana. He was also issued a criminal trespass warning for Stone Creek Apartments.

During the investigation, it was determined Gipson went into two different garages. It is believed he is the same person the KPD had been attempting to identify after he was reportedly entering unlocked vehicles near the same area.
