The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer involved shooting.

This is the third shooting involving a Longview Police Officer in 2013, with all three happening since May. The first was May 9 during a SWAT standoff and the second came 11 days later on May 20 during a high speed chase along East Marshal Avenue.

The person shot by the officer is 26-year-old Shaun Antonio Thompson. He was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Longview police are not sure if he lives at the apartment complex or what he was doing there.

Gregg County Judicial Records show Thompson has been arrested four times.

The officer will be placed on administrative leave with pay until the investigation is completed.

Longview Police were called to Penwood Apartments in the 500 block of Scenic Drive for an armed subject at 8:54 p.m., Monday night.

On arrival, police confronted the suspect. The suspect made furtive movements to the police officers and the suspect was shot by one of the officers. The suspect is currently in a local hospital.
