Man accused of cutting unborn child from wife blames synthetic drugs
LIVINGSTON, LA (NBC33) — he man accused of cutting a baby from his wife, then slitting her throat talked to members of the media Thursday at his court hearing.
Jeffrey Michael Reynolds appeared in a Livingston Parish courtroom this morning for his first hearing since pleading “not guilty” to the crime back in November. Before the hearing he made a statement to reporters regarding his actions.
“I love my wife and I love my son with all my heart,” he said. “I hope the state will make new laws and enforce laws against synthetic drugs that has ruined my family.”
Our NBC33’s Alex Deiro asked Reynolds if he was under the influence of those drugs when he committed the crime, to which he said he did not reply. He did say, however, that synthetic drugs have ruined his life and his family.
The defense asked for a continuation this morning, which was granted. Reynold’s next court appearance is in February 4 and the prosecution plans to ask for his bond to be revoked.
